What to know
This is a 1.6 mile “rails-to-trail” section made of finely crushed gravel. Barton Trailhead is located at the park’s headquarters with visitor center, gift shop, and park offices nearby. There are also 5 primitive, non-reservable walk-in campsites available at Barton. Check in and pay during business hours at the park visitor center. There is ample parking at the Barton Trailhead along with a bike repair station, interpretive kiosk, water fountain, trash cans, and bike repair station.
Lick Creek Trailhead has a few parking spaces and trash cans. Lick Creek was the site of a small skirmish during the American Civil War, commemorated by a small marker near the trailhead parking lot. NOTE: There is no restroom or water available at the Lick Creek Trailhead.
