Join the park interpreter as we explore the changes butterflies go through from egg to adult. We will cover host plants that can be found throughout the park and what you can plant in your yard to help caterpillars grow on their path to being butterflies as well as native plants that adults use.

Dip Net Discovery

What tiny creatures are hiding in the waters of Lake Frierson? Join a park interpreter in this hands-on activity to discover and discuss the roles of Lake Frierson's macroinvertebrates. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and dirty! Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. #ARSpringBreak

Name that Fish

<p>How familiar are you with the fish that live in the lakes and rivers of Mississippi River State Park? Stop by to test your skills at identifying some of the fish that are found in these bodies of water. You may even discover interesting facts about them you did not already know.<br><br></p>

Kayak Tour

Join a park interpreter at the fishing pier next to the boat ramp (within the park) for a kayak tour (weather permitting). Your guide will discuss kayaking basics, and you will get to experience Lake Charles State Park from the water. Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water and wear weather
