Paw Paw Discovery Hike

Growing in the deep shade along Delta Heritage Trail, paw paw trees are often not noticed except when blooming in the spring and when their fruits are ripening. Here is you chance to discover the fascinating story of this tree from its smelly flowers and leaves and fruit that is prized by wildlife and people this time of year. Meet at the visitor center for an easy 2-mile hike lasting 75 minutes on a gravel surface trail with a park interpreter as we look for paw paws. Please bring sunscreen, drinking water, and insect repellent. Preregistration is required by calling the park.
