Mellwood: From Railroad Depot to Trailhead

Mellwood was born with the establishment of the former rail line and its depot location has been reborn as a Delta Heritage Trail State Park trailhead. Join a park interpreter for a guided hike on a gravel surface trail covering 0.5 miles and lasting about 45 minutes from the Mellwood trailhead. We will discover the community’s heritage as a railroad hub, survival from many floods, and transformation of the rail line into Delta Heritage Trail State Park. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Dress to be outdoors in the cold and wear footwear you are comfortable hiking in. Preregistration is required by calling the park at (870) 572-2352 by February 7th.
