Girl Scouts Love State Parks: Ozark Farmways Workshops
This year the Ozark Folk Center State Park is proud to offer a special edition of our Ozark Farmways Homesteading Workshops specifically for Girl Scouts in honor of the Girl Scouts Love State Parks event on September 13, 2025.
In addition to all the regular programs in the Craft Village and Heritage Herb
Garden, we are offering a variety of homesteading mini-workshops just for Girl
Scouts.
The event starts at 10 a.m. with an orientation and opening ceremony in the
Ozark Highlands Theater.
Troops can choose from the following workshops -
- Making Sauerkraut at 10:30 a.m. on the outdoor backstage of the Ozark Highlands Theater
- Churning Butter at 11 a.m. on the Bessie Moore Deck
- Plants for Bug Repellents at 11 a.m. at the Homestead Pavilion
- Weave a Mug Rug at 11:30 a.m. in the Fiber Arts Shop
- Make Felted Soap at 12 p.m. at the Picnic Pavilion
- Composting Basics at 12 p.m. at the Compost Pile
- Farming with Donkey Power at 12:30 p.m. at the Picnic Swing
Wrap up and closing ceremony will
be on the outdoor backstage at the Ozark Highlands Theater.
After the closing ceremony, you are welcome to eat lunch on your own at the Skillet
Restaurant and explore the Craft Village. Visit with the artisans
demonstrating, making and selling their crafts. Listen to live string band
music on the Blacksmith Stage. Enjoy the Heritage Herb Garden interpretive
signage that explains many of our useful plants. Additional hands-on opportunities in the
Village are available for a fee and include color dipping candles, make a rag
doll, make a corn shuck doll, and stamping a leather bracelet.
Admission is free for registered Girl Scouts and leaders. Parents are welcome
for the special admission rate of $12.
Registration is required. Pick the workshops you plan to attend when you
register. Call Jeanette Larson, Craft Director, at 870-269-3854 to sign your
troop up for this event by September 6, 2025.
