First Day Hike to Ozark Folk Center
Start the New Year off right with a hike along the Whitewater Creek Trail to the Ozark Folk Center from the historic Stone Amphitheater in Mountain View, Arkansas! #FirstDayHikes
This guided hike includes stops at the Heritage Herb Garden, Craft Village, Shannon Cabin Homestead and the park’s 1,000-seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, where you'll have the opportunity to learn to square dance!
Ending Place:
The hike will finish around 3 p.m. at the Rec Room in the Cabins Office, located at the Ozark Folk Center, for hot cocoa, coffee and a fun hands-on activity for kids. NOTE: This is a one-way hike. At the end of your First Day Hike, a park shuttle bus will return you to your vehicle at the City Park Stone Ampitheater.
Safety & Health:
- The hike will be about 3 miles with some steep, wet and rocky terrain, as well as asphalt and concrete. Sturdy boots with ankle support are recommended.
- Bring water and dress appropriately for the weather. Bathrooms are available at the City Park and at the Ozark Folk Center.

- Admission is free to the Craft Village during the Ozark Folk Center’s off season (November-early April).
