The 10 Essentials Challenge

Ever been caught unprepared on an outdoor adventure? Meet a park interpreter at the amphitheater to learn about the ten essentials every adventurer should have. Discover how these items can keep you safe while exploring the Natural State. This is a come and go program. 

Morning Bird Walk (Dardanelle Area)

Join a park interpreter on the Dardanelle side of the park near the courtesy dock to take a walk through the area in search of our visiting birds. Even if you've never birded before, you can enjoy these creatures in a whole new way!

Insect Orchestra

Have you heard the music that the insects here at Lake Dardanelle State Park make in the evenings? Join a park interpreter at the open pavilion to learn more about how insects make their music and help us create our own “insect orchestra.”

Wildlife Bingo

You can explore nature at this park because Lake Dardanelle State Park's diverse habitats sustain many living creatures. Join a park interpreter at the amphitheater and discover some of the creatures that call this area home. 

Corn Husk Figurines

Exploration, opportunity, and progress forged the culture that you find here today. Join a park interpreter in the grassy area near the weigh-in pavilion to learn about an early toy that was made by the early children and make one of your own. 

Be an Explorer Look & Learn Table

Interested in becoming an Arkansas State Parks Explorer? Meet a park interpreter in the visitor center to learn how to get started! The Explorer Program is intended for young people ages 6-14 (though all ages are welcome) who care about nature, history, safety, and fun. You get to do neat stuff and

Life of a Firefly

Fireflies light up our forests on summer nights, their lights serving as an intriguing form of communication. Join a park interpreter at the amphitheater to learn the secrets of these glowing beetles. This program is great for the entire family. 

Bird Beak Buffet

You can learn a lot about a bird by just looking at their beaks. Meet a park interpreter in the grassy area across from the visitor center to see the different ways birds use their beaks to eat.

What Doesn't Belong?

Plants and animals that live here in the park can be categorized into different groups. Join a park interpreter to play a fun activity to see what belongs in certain groups and what doesn’t belong at all. We will also explore the word “invasive” and see which plants and animals don’t belong in
