<p>Join us for a fun, hands-on bug bingo adventure where kids and families learn to identify local insects and arthropods. Discover the important roles bugs play in the park’s ecosystem while exploring safely and sharpening your observation skills.</p><br><br>

Tree Detectives – A Plant and Tree ID Adventure

<p>Become a nature detective and learn how to identify trees using leaves, bark, and other clues! We’ll use a simple dichotomous key to explore the park’s trails and uncover the secrets of local trees like red oak, sweetgum, and tulip tree. Great for curious minds of all ages!</p><br><br>

Bug Builders: Insect Collecting and Pinning

<p>Get up close with the tiny world of insects! In this hands-on program, young naturalists will learn how to safely collect, observe, and preserve real insects found right here in the park. We’ll explore how to use insect nets, ID keys, and magnifiers before creating our very own pinned insect</p>

Frog Talk – Who’s Making That Noise?

<p>What’s that sound by the lake? Join a fun, hands-on program to meet the frogs of Lake Frierson State Park! Learn to identify local frogs by their calls, then use everyday items to mimic the sounds yourself. Great for families and kids ages 5–12; come croak, click, and chirp along!</p><br><br>

Scales, Tails and Survival Tools

<p>Join us to discover how snakes survive without legs! Learn about their amazing adaptations, then build your own custom snake designed for life in the wild. Fun, hands-on, and perfect for children ages 6–14.</p><br><br>

Paracord Skills with Hike

What if you were lost in the wilderness without food, water, or shelter? What if you always had a tool on hand to help you? Paracord can be the answer and is an invaluable tool in any outdoor person's kit. Join a park interpreter to learn some of the basics of survival, make your paracord keychain

Fish Name Game

Want to brush up on your fish identification skills? Join a park interpreter outside the visitor center to play the Fish Name Game. We will learn what features can help you identify different fish, then put our new skills to the test during the game. This program is fun for the whole family.

What's the Catch?

Why do some fish prefer different bait than others?&nbsp;Meet a park interpreter to discover how fish use their senses to navigate their underwater world and find food. We will make a paper fish craft, all while uncovering the secret superpower of a fish—their sixth sense!
