Women in the Woods: Wayfinders
Meeting Place: Day Use Area by Playground
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Knot tying and navigation are two skills that interest and connect us through time. Learn how to tie a few knots and feel confident in your ability to lend a helping hand to others or yourself. Navigating the land is a task that many today do not know how to do well. Join park staff for a hand at trying this sometimes-tricky skill. This program will be about 3 hours long. We will instruct how to read and navigate with only a map and a compass, and other systems commonly used among search and rescue staff. This course will include time navigating a course within the park.
This workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 12 p.m. We will go on a hike on the 1.5-mile Boundary Trail following instruction. Registration is required. To register, call the visitor center at (870) 932-2615 during office hours.
This program is part of the Women in the Woods series, the first Sunday of every month: Arkansas State Parks are how we connect. You can weave adventure, nature, and memories at Lake Frierson State Park.
