Celebrate the legacy of legendary guitarist Merle Travis with our featured performers and instructors Thom Bresh, Randy Buckner and Danny Dozier. Weekend events include a one-day master class, panel discussions, concerts, and the Arkansas State Thumbpicking Championship Contest.

Friday May 15th

9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Master Class for Beginners with Randy Buckner
During the first half of the beginning workshop you’ll learn an easy two-chord fingerstyle arrangement, “Jericho.” After a one-hour lunch break, you’ll learn basic open position fingerstyle chords, alternating-bass patterns for each chord, and right-hand picking exercises designed to develop your ability to play the styles of Chet Adkins and Merle Travis.

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Master Class for Intermediates with Danny Dozier
Danny's class covers the Blues side of thumbpicking. Learn Merle's "Fuller Blues" and dig into other Blues tunes that utilize the style including songs from Rev. Gary Davis and Robert Johnson. Students should bring a slide, for this workshop.

Evening Concert at 7 p.m. in Ozark Highlands Theater
