Made up of the best young men of Jackson County, the Jackson Guards, Company G, left Jacksonport with great fanfare on May 5, 1861—the day before Arkansas seceded from the Union. Young and inexperienced, many difficulties faced the Jackson Guards during the Civil War. Join a park interpreter to learn about their trials, victories, and hard battles fought.
