Join us on Saturday, December 5th, and Sunday, December 6th, at Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park for the 2020 Reenactment of the Battle of Prairie Grove! Fought on December 7, 1862, over 22,000 soldiers from the North and South clashed on the ridge at Prairie Grove, resulting in one of the worst firefights west of the Mississippi River during the war. Our reenactment takes place on the actual battlefield and helps interpret an inclusive understanding of the Prairie Grove campaign and the effects of the Civil War on the people of northwest Arkansas.
This two-day event is great for all ages and will include several Civil War themed programs and activities. Tour military camps, observe drill demonstrations from both the Union and Confederate Armies, meet and chat with living historians, experience a period dance Saturday night, and witness the reenactment of the battle at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday!
Hindman Hall museum and book store, along with several vendors at “Sutler Row,” will offer a wide variety of Civil War goods and will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Parking for the event will be $5 per car.Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is located at 506 E. Douglas St., Prairie Grove, AR 72753. For more information, please call (479) 846-2990 or visit arkansasstateparks.com.
