Ozark Chinquapin Tree Project

Join us this Arbor Day as we celebrate trees, conservation, and a hopeful future for our forests! This year, we're thrilled to highlight a new and exciting project taking root in the park—the introduction of the Ozark chinquapin tree.

Once a mighty native of the Arkansas landscape, the Ozark chinquapin was nearly wiped out by blight. But thanks to dedicated conservation efforts and promising research, this resilient tree is making a comeback—and our park is proud to be part of its story. Join the park interpreters for an introductory talk about this tree at the pavilion on top of picnic hill. You will get hands on with this project and help the park kick off the prep work for planting these seeds! This program will last around 45 minutes.
