Ornament Basket Workshop

The 1800s brought many emigrants to the river valley; these pioneers had to learn to live off the land. Basket making, using natural materials such as honeysuckle and button brush, was an important task for every pioneer. Baskets can made to serve utilitarian purposes or for decoration. Weave your own ornament in this hands-on class and reflect on those who lived in this area before it was a state park. Bring a sack lunch or plan to visit a local restaurant. The fee covers the cost of materials. Class size is limited, and preregistration is required. Come prepared to get a little wet and watch your ornament take shape before your eyes.
