Listen to the Bats

Learn about Devil’s Den State Park's favorite flying mammals – the bats! Join a park interpreter for a fun game about the bats' sense of smell and then we’ll listen to their echolocation calls as they begin foraging for their evening meal. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and flashlights. Join a park interpreter and Arkansas State University students while we listen to the bats as they foliage for their nightly food. The students will have specific acoustic equipment that will allow us to not only hear the echolocation sounds but we’ll identify what species of bats we are hearing. Join us for an interesting evening of listening to these amazing flying mammals! Please bring a light source and chair or blanket.
