Let's Talk Oil

Meeting Place: Tinkering Center
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Admission: Free
Join the park interpreter for an evening of fun and movement, learning about the 1920s oil boom that made the population of South Arkansas explode within a five-year period. You will engage in several activities that will allow you to work alone or in a group. Activities include designing and building your own oil company with Lego's and other supplied materials and playing an oil game to decide if oil is a renewable/non-renewable resource. Pay close attention because this step could be the breaking point of your company! For the final project of the day, you will be assigned the task of cleaning up a man-made disaster that was intentionally made by one of your competitors, an oil spill. Please call the museum to reserve your spot at (870)725-2877.
