Girl Scouts Love State Parks Day: Play the Past
Girl Scouts, come to the museum and “Play the Past.” Explore local history, as you experience the 1920s South Arkansas oil boom. Discover how daily life during the rush for black gold was in some ways similar, but in other ways different from life today. Get outdoors and walk through the Oil Park with the museum’s curator to investigate the machines that made the boom possible. On Boomtown Street inside the museum, search for artifacts that show how people both worked and played. Enjoy a variety of hands-on activities like making your own butter and letting your creativity flow as you create a 1920s style craft. We will even enjoy some old-fashioned toys and games.
This program will help meet the “Experience Daily Life” and “Have Some Old-Fashioned Fun” requirements for the “Play the Past” badge. Space is limited. Please contact the park at (870) 725-2877 or email charles.licciardi@arkansas.gov to reserve a place for your child or troop.
The deadline for registration is September 9, 2025.
