Friends of Hobbs Speaker Series: Arthropods in Music

Meeting Place: Visitor Center
admission: Free
Our speaker is Austin Jones, professor of entomology with the University of Arkansas, who is always informative and entertaining. His talk will highlight some of the many connections between bugs, people and music. Insects and other arthropods, including many found right here in The Natural State, have been inspiration for musical compositions, themes, lyrics, and often even make music themselves via auditory communication. Come find out why some consider bugs to be the first musicians and others even work their sounds into musical scores.
