Firefly Atlas Hike

Join the park interpreter to participate in one of the greatest shows nature has to offer: the dancing of fireflies in North America. Partake in hiking throughout the park and enjoying a popular activity of American youth, catching fireflies. There are over 200 species within the United States, but little is known or understood about the health of firefly populations in Southeastern Arkansas. Hours spent participating can be recorded as volunteer hours as all results from this study will participate in a nationwide, citizen science project, Firefly Atlas. 

Closed-toe boots, long pants, and flashlights are required. Water, insect repellant, sunscreen, and snacks are recommended.
