Cathy Combs is the park superintendent at Lake Frierson State Park in eastern Arkansas. Cathy is no stranger to the Delta. She grew up in Paragould and has fond memories of camping with family in the parks. She has a degree in Biology from Freed-Hardeman University and a master’s from Missouri State University. She started her career in traditional education, teaching science for six years before taking the walls away in the shift to interpretation. She started with Arkansas State Parks as an interpreter at Village Creek State Park in 2021 before transitioning to her current position at Lake Frierson State Park. Inspired by family, teachers, and interpreters who shaped her, Cathy is excited to connect others to the amazing world we live in, one hike at a time.
