Kids Cane Pole Fishing Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park

Admission: Free

Meeting Place: Visitor Center

Ever wonder what fish were like a thousand years ago? They were probably fairly similar to the fish found in Mound Lake today. The Plum Bayou people ate several species, such as bowfin, catfish, gar, bass, crappie, drum, and many types of sunfish. Kids aged 15 and younger, join us in learning about the techniques they used, make your own cane fishing pole, and cast a few lines from our boardwalk. Reservations are required; space and supplies are limited.
