Meeting Place: Kitchen by the Heritage Garden
The heritage garden provides opportunities to teach methods, and diversity of foods used in the 1860s. All plantings in this garden are varieties that were grown in the 1860s. These are now called “heirloom varieties." The herb garden around the Latta Kitchen, Springhouse, and Smokehouse hosts herbs that were commonly grown in the 1860s for culinary, medicinal, textile, and personal use.
