Fall is here, with a slight chill in the air.
Bright, late blooming wildflowers can be seen along trails and roads, such as goldenrod, asters, and ironweed. A few leaves are already showing hints of yellow and reds. Papaws and muscadines are ripe, serving as a tasty addition to the early fall color. Word has spread about Mount Magazine State Park fall beauty. The park was recently included in a list of ten of "America's Best Fall Foliage" spots, on Yahoo! Travel. For updates on fall color and tips on seeing spectacular color in Arkansas, visit Arkansas's Fall Foliage site.

Schedule your visit for a colorful hike, dessert with a view, or a fun park activity, Mount Magazine State Park is a great fall destination!

Migration Watch

The migration watches were eventful this September. Several large groups of birds passed through the area and many more on their own.

The totals included: a variety of songbirds, 3 great blue herons, 1 osprey, 5 bald eagles, 2 northern harriers, 17 sharp-shinned hawks, 6 Cooper’s hawks, 596 broad-winged hawks, 3 red-tailed hawks, 2 kestrels, and 1 peregrine falcon. Only two monarch butterflies were spotted; their world population is at an all time low.

White Cloud Chocolate Mousse

Updated Menu Features a New Dessert

Imagine the dreamy taste of a chocolate cloud, drizzled with raspberry and kissed with mint. Now open your eyes, wipe that speck of drool off your mouth, and come taste the real thing! White Cloud Chocolate Mousse is Mount Magazine's new signature dessert.

Guests who attended our Saxophone & Sweets event may remember this decadent dessert featured on that night's buffet of miniature sweets. It was a very popular item, with many compliments. Taking that into consideration, it was made a permanent offering during recent menu changes. Servings come beautifully garnished with raspberries and sauce in a decorative glass giving it giving it an air of romance.
