Benefits

Our Department offers an excellent benefit package including immediate accrual of annual and sick leave, eleven paid holidays, and a contributory retirement plan. Our Department pays the major portion of medical health insurance for full-time employees and offers several medical plans from which to choose. These plans range from an indemnity plan with a PPO option to HMO's.

Other benefits include maternity leave, court and jury duty leave, military leave and a catastrophic illness leave program as well as Family and Medical leave. Employees with our Department may choose to participate in a deferred compensation plan and various options for life insurance, accident insurance, cancer care and intensive care insurance. Employees are also able to participate in the Arkansas Cafeteria Plan which is a program designed to allow an employee to pay for group health and life insurance premiums, dependent day care and out-of-pocket medical care costs tax free. All employees of our Department are also covered under workers' compensation and unemployment insurance.

ADPT Consultant/Tourism Development Consultant

Maintenance Specialist

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:
This position will work under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor and will be responsible for the maintenance of the state park grounds, facilities, and equipment. Job duties include making minor repairs to the park’s facilities, maintaining equipment, doing basic plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical and mechanical work, and performing landscaping tasks such as mowing and weed trimming. The Maintenance Specialist also maintains park vehicles, maintains a wide variety of small engines, ground maintenance equipment and hand tools, performs heavy maintenance on 35 miles of trails, cleans park facilities as needed, and other duties as assigned. Restaurant Manager

This position works under the direction of the Food & Beverage Director and supervises food preparation to ensure Serv-Safe guidelines and Department of Health regulations. Park Interpreter

This position will conduct mostly interpretive duties but will perform other duties as assigned. Applicant will plan, coordinate, direct and present interpretive education programs and special events to park visitors, schools, civic groups and private organizations. Must have knowledge in the areas of flora, fauna, geology, history, recreation, and natural resources. Job duties include researching and recording data regarding park resources and programs, writing press releases, newspaper articles, flyers, brochures, scripts for programs, preparing and delivering presentations using Power Point and other audio-visual equipment, assisting with supervision of park operations in the absence of other uniform personnel, and providing assistance to the Park Superintendent in planning and operations. This position is responsible for performing various duties associated with the Arkansas State Parks Geographic Information System (GIS) and Natural Resource Inventory Database (NRID), including feature development, data entry and analysis, web service implementation, and system maintenance. Routinely locates and records park assets and resources using construction drawings, surveys, legal descriptions, field measurements, and various remote sensing methods. Applicant must have the ability to work independently or within a team-oriented environment. Working knowledge of GIS concepts, including experience with ArcGIS Desktop, Spatial Analyst, orthoimagery, and cartographic standards is required. Applicant must also have experience working within a dynamic web environment with software, such as ArcGIS Server, Python, SQL, PHP, HTML, and CSS.
