Queen Wilhelmina State Park

Queen Wilhelmina State Park lodge sits high atop Rich Mountain, the state's second peak at 2,681 feet found in the southernmost mountain range, the Arkansas Ouachitas. Approached along the Talimena Scenic Drive, a National Scenic Byway, the park offers windswept panoramic views from its lofty locale. The park's dominant feature is Queen Wilhelmina Lodge, Arkansas's "Castle in the Clouds," that carries forward the lodging tradition of royal hospitality begun in 1898 by the original inn built by the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad, and named after a Dutch monarch. This is the fourth inn to grace this same spectacular mountaintop setting. The lodge's Queens Restaurant consistently receives high marks from visitors and overnight guests. The lodge's meeting room includes a balcony offering sweeping views from the mountain. The Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge is located at the western edge of Arkansas 13 miles west of Mena on Ark. 88, the Talimena Scenic Drive. To take a virtual tour of this 56-mile National Scenic Byway stretching from Mena, Arkansas to Talihina, Oklahoma, go to: http://talimenascenicdrive.com/.
