Dozens of minerals can be found at Crater of Diamonds State Park, including calcite, mica, and barite. Each one can be used in different ways to make our lives easier.

Arkansas has some of the finest bird watching. Many of our parks have bird watching checklists, and park interpreters who are avid birders and can guide you to view many of the birds in Arkansas.

Each fall, Arkansans improve their communities by volunteering in the Great Arkansas Cleanup (GAC), the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission’s (KAB) annual litter pickup and community cleanup event.

Mather Lodge is closed for restoration, renovation and major rebuilding, but will stay true to the orginal design and structure of the CCC era in which it was built.

As you scan the horizon with a good set of binoculars, there is a variety of wildlife to spot in state parks from hawks and eagles to monarch butterflies and song birds.

The main thing that makes Crater of Diamonds State Park so unique is that our visitors are allowed to hunt for diamonds, and then are allowed to keep them.
