Fossil Flats

Devil's Den State Park

Trail Type: Hiking TrailMountain Biking Trail

The flat exposed rock in the creek bed lends this trail its name. Many fossils are visible in the exposed creek bed. Along the trail you will see evidence of the CCC and early settlers, creek views, and big rock formations. This trail gives riders a choice of a three, four, or five mile ride and the difficulty increases with each mile added.

Rode Fossil Flats 1/25/2014. Went to visitor center to sign in. Visted with staff and they were excellent giving trail conditions and noting a tree removal that had trail blocked. I received a map and note of trail revision from previous trip. Trail was in excellent shape with several people riding and hiking the trail. The water was plenty cool at the Lee Creek crossing as I took an unexpected dip! Thanks to the staff at Devils Den State Park for an enjoyable ride and excellent trail up-keep. Ed Faust (OORC) (1/26/2014)

One of the neatest trails at Devil's Den-nice views up and down the creek, and it rarely gets as crowded as the other trails. Intended for mountain bikers, it is also an excellent hiking trail... Shane Stephens (1/8/2012)
