Devil's Den State Park
As of May 27, Farmer's Cave and Big Ear Cave, two of the lesser known caves in Devil's Den State Park, are closed to the public. These emergency closures were necessary in an effort to protect these two caves from the possibility of contamination from the White Nose Syndrome, a fungus that has killed millions of bats in the eastern U.S. The disease is transmitted bat to bat. It is believed that climbers moving their gear from cave to cave and state to state are spreading spores from the fungus. All other caves in Devil's Den State Park remain open to cavers. Crater of Diamonds State Park
The campground at Crater of Diamonds State Park closed beginning July 26 to undergo a complete renovation. The campground is not expected to reopen until spring 2010. All other facilities at the Crater of Diamonds are open.
Daisy State Park's campground is an alternate choice. Located on Lake Greeson, this nearby state park is 1/4 mile south of Daisy off U.S. 70. The drive time is approximately 25 minutes from Daisy State Park to the Crater of Diamonds State Park.
Moro Bay State Park
The campground, cabins, playground, and visitor center at Moro Bay State Park are currently inaccessible due to floodwaters from the Ouachita River. As a result, the park is closed temporarily. Once these floodwaters recede, the park will reopen. For updates, contact the park at: 870-463-8555.
Woolly Hollow State Park
The campsites with electric hookups at Woolly Hollow State Park are closed for renovation and will remain out of service until early summer 2010. The park's tent sites (no electric service but water is located nearby) remain open. For further details, contact the park at: 501-679-2098.
Bull Shoals-White River State Park
Campground Area "A" at Bull Shoals-White River State Park is closed to undergo a total renovation including 50 amp electrical service and full sewer hookups at these 28 campsites. This campground loop will remain out of service until spring 2010. The park's remaining 75 campsites are open and available for rent. For details, contact the park at: 870-445-3629.
Jacksonport State Park
Clean up due to floodwaters from the White River continue to keep some areas of the park closed but limited campsites are now available. The park areas still affected include the picnic area, pavilion, boat ramp, and Mary Woods No. 2. For updates contact the park at: 870-523-2143.
Protected by the river levee, the park's 1872 Courthouse museum, courtyard and visitor center will remain open during these flood conditions.
