LITTLE ROCK-John Morrow has been selected as the park superintendent for the Ozark Folk Center State Park according to State Parks Director Greg Butts. As superintendent, John Morrow, who has served as park superintendent at Mississippi River State Park since 2009, will be responsible for all operations at the park. Superintendent Morrow assumed his responsibilities at Ozark Folk Center July 8, 2013.
“John has prepared himself to manage the Ozark Folk Center State Park,” said Arkansas State Parks Director Greg Butts. “John is an energetic and knowledgeable park professional with 12 years’ experience in the Arkansas State Park system. He has been the park superintendent at Mississippi River State Park for the past four years. Prior to coming to Mississippi River State Park John worked as Chief Interpreter at Historic Washington State Park for 3.5 years and interpreter for Petit Jean and Lake Chicot State Parks.”
Butts noted that “Superintendent Morrow’s training and state park related experience and skills will benefit him in his new responsibilities. John has completed 64 park management related training courses and is ready to assume the role of park superintendent. John is no stranger to community involvement and has served as past president of a Chamber of Commerce and past board member of local regional tourism associations.”
Morrow said “The Ozark Folk Center State Park is an exciting vibrant place. I am looking forward to serving with the staff to continue our mission of perpetuating, presenting and promoting the Ozark way of life. My family and I are excited about living and being an active part of the community of Mountain View and Stone County, where my family has had roots for generations. In many ways, this is like returning home.”
A native of Little Rock, Superintendent Morrow received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Pittsburg State University at Pittsburg, Kansas in 2000 and an A.A in science from Fort Scott Community College at Fort Scott, Kansas in 1998. He graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and is a certified and commissioned law enforcement officer, a certified interpretive trainer, boaters education instructor and hunters education instructor.
