Special Notice — July 24, 2015

Millwood State Park remains closed due damage from spring and early summer floodwaters. It is not known at this time when the park will reopen. Updates will be posted here as the park's reopening date (dependent on park repairs) is determined. At this time, the only park facility in operation is the visitor center. Current hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed weekends). For further details, contact the park at: 870-898-2800.

A series of boat lanes meander through submerged timber, marshes, and oxbow cutoffs making Millwood Lake a "tree-filled" fishing favorite. Famous for bass tournaments, this 29,260-acre lake abounds in largemouth, catfish and crappie. Spring and fall offer anglers great crappie fishing here, and catfish and bream fishing in summer. Bird watching is another popular activity here because of the lake's variety of year-round inhabitants that include eagles.

Park facilities include 105 campsites (29 Class AAA, two Class AA, 71 Class B, and three Primitive), picnic sites, a standard pavilion, self-guided nature trail, and bicycle trail.

A marina offers gift items, groceries, bait, and gas for sale, and fishing boats, canoes, kayaks pedal boats, and hydro bikes for rent. Slip rentals are available throughout the year. [Marina: 870-898-5334]

From junction I-30 and U.S. 71 at Texarkana, travel 16 miles north on U.S. 71 to Ashdown, then go nine miles east on Ark. 32 to the park.
