Meeting Place: Kingfisher Trailhead

The borders of the Little Maumelle River is a mysterious place with many animals not found on Pinnacle Mountain itself. One of the animals at the Little Maumelle River is the woodpecker.  Meet a park interpreter at the Kingfisher Trailhead today as we learn why the Little Maumelle River is a perfect spot to see these animals. Discover some of the adaptations woodpeckers have to help them get into dead trees to locate bugs and discover some of the unique woodpeckers found in Pulaski County. Afterwards, take a hike on the Kingfisher Trail to see if we spot or hear some native woodpeckers.
