Fall in the Craft Village - Sorghum making, Sheep-to-Shawl, apple butter and more
Fall is the most fantastic time to be in the Ozarks. The days are warm, the nights are crisp and everybody is having a great time.
Join us here at the Ozark Folk Center on Saturday, October 13 for an all-day sorghum making demonstration.
Visit during the week for demos on candle making, silver casting, beef jerky drying and so much more.
On Saturday, October 20, we are again proud to host the Ozark Fiber Folk Guild Sheep to Shawl. Spend the day watching spinning, weaving, carding, dyeing and sheep shearing. Pictured here is last year's winning spinning and weaving team.
The Ozark Folk Center is the place to be in October!

Sign up now for Mountain Dulcimer Duet Weekend with Larry Conger
Join former National Mountain Dulcimer Champion, Larry Conger at The Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View on November 2-3, 2012 as he presents four mountain dulcimer workshops designed specifically for duet playing.
The weekend begins with a “Meet & Greet” on Friday evening followed by four 90 minute workshops on Saturday. Each arrangement planned for the workshops has been previously taught at the Montgomery Bell State Park Duet Dulcimer Retreat in 2009.
The arrangements include hymns, spirituals, echo songs and canons.
Last year, Larry’s Duet Weekend at The Folk Center was a huge hit so this is an event you don’t want to miss!

Lend a hand to make "After Dark in the Park" a fun trick or treat alternative
The fall woods can be spooky. Branches click, leaves rattle, wild critters rustle and even today it is easy to imagine that "something" is out there. Look carefully - you're never quite sure what you'll find after dark, in the park.
Here at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, we gather on the evening of October 31 to share old-fashioned scary stories, like those collected by Vance Randolph and other folklorists, a little music and some good old-fashioned fun. Of course there will be some food, this is the Ozarks.
We are finalizing plans this week for "After Dark in the Park" on October 31. If your group, family, organization, business or church would like to set up a space, donate candy or volunteer to share stories in our safe, fun, old-fashioned evening of Ozark fall fun, give Jeanette a call at 870-269-3851.
