Benefits

Our Department offers an excellent benefit package including immediate accrual of annual and sick leave, eleven paid holidays, and a contributory retirement plan. Our Department pays the major portion of medical health insurance for full-time employees and offers several medical plans from which to choose. These plans range from an indemnity plan with a PPO option to HMO's.

Other benefits include maternity leave, court and jury duty leave, military leave and a catastrophic illness leave program as well as Family and Medical leave. Employees with our Department may choose to participate in a deferred compensation plan and various options for life insurance, accident insurance, cancer care and intensive care insurance. Employees are also able to participate in the Arkansas Cafeteria Plan which is a program designed to allow an employee to pay for group health and life insurance premiums, dependent day care and out-of-pocket medical care costs tax free. All employees of our Department are also covered under workers' compensation and unemployment insurance.

Maintenance Specialist

Location: Lake Dardanelle State Park, Russellville, AR

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position participates in the maintenance and operation of park facilities, grounds, and equipment. Performs skilled and non-skilled duties including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, mowing, weed trimming, trash removal, vehicle maintenance, and other labor related maintenance activities. Other duties include training and supervising the work ofemployees, community service workers, and volunteers involved with maintenanceprojects, maintaining equipment history, inventorying supplies and materials, record-keeping duties, assisting the public as necessary, and other duties as assigned. Must be able to work weekends and some holidays, and have a valid driver’s license.A driver’s record check will be performed.

Park Office Manager I

Location: Lake Frierson State Park, Jonesboro, AR
Salary: $25,268 + benefits

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position manages the parks book keeping and administrative support functions including auditing invoices, reconciling cash receipt reports, preparing bank deposits, and compiling information for various reports. Other job duties include computing current budget balances, issuing purchase orders, completing personnel and payroll documents, and maintaining files and payroll documents. This position has frequent contact with the public and park staffs, therefore good communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office is required, and knowledge of AASIS is preferred. Criminal background check required.

Facility Manager II

Location: Devil’s Den State Park, West Fork, AR

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position manages the park store, pool, and seasonal café.  Other duties include handling monetary transactions, balancing daily receipts, ordering and maintaining inventory, pricing and displaying items, merchandising/marketing, preparing annual budgets, hiring, training and disciplining employees, completing the menu cost analysis, following Serve-Safe guidelines, monitoring portion control and labor costs, and operating within our standard operating procedure guidelines. This position will perform other duties as assigned. Applicant must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., and must possess a valid driver’s license. A criminal background check is required.

Park Ranger I

Location: Lake Chicot State Park, Lake Village, AR

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This law enforcement position is responsible for ensuring the safety of visitors and protecting the resources of the park by obtaining voluntary compliance with laws and park regulations. Job duties include overseeing search operations, administering basic first aid, patrolling for possible thefts, illegal hunting, cutting of trees, vandalism or other violations, preparing the necessary accident/incident reports as required, supervising pool operations, and performing other duties as assigned. This position is subject to 24 hour calland must be able to traverse rough terrain and work in inclement weather. A criminal background check is required. Applicant must have completed or be able to complete the Arkansas law enforcement certification training within one year of employment and carry a firearm while on duty.
